Official notes
- Parking
- Day use: park at the Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge visitor center lot (4005 S. Sandpiper Road); this lot fills quickly in summer. Overnight/camping: campers must park at Little Island City Park, leave a copy of the reservation confirmation on the dashboard, and travel 5-9 miles on foot or by bicycle through the refuge to the campsites; overnight parking is paid via the Honk mobile app, and Little Island parking fees are collected May 1 - Sept 30. No public vehicular access into the park at any time - access is by foot, bicycle, boat, or the refuge tram only. No parking capacity/space count is stated by DCR.
- Water
- Drinking water is available at three points in the Barbour Hill area: one near the contact station and one in each of the two Barbour Hill camping areas. There is no drinking water elsewhere on the route. The False Cape Landing area has only non-potable water suitable for washing dishes, and campers there must bring their own containers to carry water from the source. The park is primitive and advises carrying plenty of water.
