Eastern Shore
Barrier islands, wildlife refuges, and quiet flat walking between the Bay and the Atlantic.
Virginia's Eastern Shore is a narrow peninsula of farmland, salt marsh, and refuge land. Trails here are short, level, and built around wildlife viewing rather than mileage. It is the strongest region in the state for shorebird watching, and the weakest for shade — bring sun protection.
